Overview Widetronix Inc. is a manufacturer of high voltage silicon carbide (SiC) epitaxial wafers and power conversion devices. The company, located in Ithaca, New York, has state of the art SiC growth and power electronics device design capabilities with partnerships developing for device fabrication at foundries worldwide. Initial revenues will be generated beginning in Summer 2007 from sales of SiC to a U.S. based wafer supplier, taking advantage of Widetronix’s in-house, proprietary epitaxial process. Long-term revenue growth is anticipated from sales of specialized SiC power conversion and microwave devices, beginning in Fall 2007. "Widetronix’s SiC growth technology is based on key research conducted at Cornell University funded primarily by DoD ($0.75M). Widetronix is funded by a phase II Navy STTR and is seeking $1M in debt and equity capital, as well as grants in 2007. Funds will be used to purchase and operationalize a SiC reactor, expand the technical and sales team, and continue development work on specialized SiC power devices. Partnerships with device and wafer manufacturers globally are under negotiation. The Company intends to work with Northrop Grumman and General Atomics for successful insertion of its epitaxial technology into naval systems, as well as NGC to insert its epitaxial products into premier device-related projects from DARPA and MANTECH. |
